Aloha All,
Yes Mae West just flew in for the new Stitcherie Games 2013 Challenge. She heard about them and in her iconic way told the other canvases to hit the road. Mae aptly said it “I generally avoid temptation unless I can’t resist it”, well I just couldn’t resist. So let the games begin 🙂
These are the threads that flew in with her.
This month’s challenge is to stitch an area of the canvas with the clue “Shape Up”. I don’t think that will be a problem with this canvas. Mae West has an hour glass figure with curves that women pay lots of money for today! I won’t bore you with the stitching details. I will show you the area that I stitch based on the clue each month with my interpretation of the clue. Seeing the photo is the fun part anyway. If you do want to see more just let me know. I do take photos of my stitching as I go along for reference.
Mae West to me was the Madonna of today. She was ahead of her time, and paved the way for strong independent women. You may not know this, but she was arrested and sentenced to 10 days in jail on a “morals” charge of obscenity for the Broadway play she wrote named “Sex”. She also starred in the play. This sentence only heightened her rise to fame. THe other quote that I love is “I used to be Snow White, but I drifted”, this just says it all. It is a fabulous quote.
I will be posting a slight variation on the Cobblestone stitch. I varied it to add in beads. This is another stitch in the Witch’s Hat.
Now I wish I had captured this on camera. I went into the garage at an unexpected time for the children. Thinking I would give then some more attention. Well I open the door and on the roof of my Honda Element is Lobo, Noe and sliding down the window Stimpy! All looked around as if to say “It wasn’t my idea”. It was a hilarious site. Below are photos of them nosing around the house. I am slowly introducing them to the inside. Lobo as you will see, is quite laid back.
That’s all for now folks, there is still time to join in the Stitcherie Games, it is promising to be a lot of fun. Sandra Arthur has joined up and is stitching her favorite subject, a Santa 🙂
Chat later,

I can’t wait to see what you do with her. I love this series. I have Betsy Ross and Glinda the Good Witch. Queen Elizabeth I is next on my list. Might have to add Mae.
