I have to let you in on a wonderful idea that “The Comfy Cottage” is bringing to the needlepoint world. I wrote about this needlepoint store last year because I loved how they categorized needlepoint canvases from beginner to expert. This gives a newer stitcher a rough idea of the complexity of the canvas. The Comfy Cottage has now teamed with Beth Gantz Designs to bring you a fully kitted beginner canvas with stitch guide. YouTube videos have been created to accompany the canvas and walk you through the needlepoint stitches of Basketweave, Skip Tent, Brick Stitch, Rhodes, & Double T. These videos are extremely well done, I have to applaud Beth Gantz & The Comfy Cottage on these wonderful Tutorials! I wish these had been available years ago when I learned to stitch 🙂
The Kit that The Comfy Cottage has created includes everything you need to stitch the project, check out their blog post about this fun project, click here http://www.comfy-cottage.com/blogs/happenings/36566212-needlepoint-kit-for-beginners-with-digital-class-by-beth-gantz.
Here is a close up of the project.
I had to add digital framing to this great canvas, it just spoke to me :).
When you order the kit you can choose which letter you would like to stitch. So if you know someone who would like to learn to needlepoint this would be a terrific starting point. It is also a great project for anyone who would like to stitch a fun monogram, what a great gift this would be, plus it is a quick stitch since it is painted on large 10 count canvas.
Now we have the stitch for today, it is called Swirling Clouds One and Jane Wood of Chilly Hollow Needlepoint Adventures is kindly allowing me to post her stitch.
Of course I stitched the model and randomly spaced an additional cloud.
You can stitch as many clouds and repeat them randomly. Also single or double clouds randomly placed would look great. You decide! I also think this would work great for water or even wallpaper, use your imagination 🙂
Lastly the girls want to say hello since Saturday August 8th is National Cat Day! Make sure you give out treats and lots of scratches 😉
Finally one of Tango’s favorite places to sit is the scratching pad on his toy!
All of the cats are now over being photographed, they have started to give Stink Eye!
That’s all for today folks, have fun stitching or doing whatever makes you happy!
