Cleveland became a wintry wonderland this morning! For my readers who live in sunny climates this is what a White Christmas in Cleveland looks like this year!
Now that you have had your fill of snow I will give you today’s stitch, the Tweed Stitch Variation. I found the Tweed Stitch in “Father B’s 21st Century Book of Stitches”. I thought that by varying it slightly it looked like a starry sky.
A uniform starry sky! I stitched this sample using one strand of Neon Rays+ for the large Upright Cross, one strand of Kreinik Very Fine (#4) Braid for the small cross stitch on top.
For a little variety and keeping more with the Tweed Stitch I added a small cross stitch in the open areas between the stars.
For this sample I used one strand of Petite Sparkle Braid and one strand of Kreinik Fine (#8) Braid. The small bulb magnet gives you an idea of the size of the stitch. Remember anywhere there is a cross stitch you could use a bead or a French Knot. This would make a pretty background on any Christmas or Holiday canvas.
Next I have an even closer variation of the actual Tweed Stitch. The Tweed Stitch shares holes with the blue stitches, I left one thread open all around.
The next two pictures are of the same stitch but using different fibers. Thanks Tess for stitching this first sample.
Tess used one strand of Pepper Pot silk and one strand of Kreinik Tapestry (#12) Braid. Wouldn’t his make a nice dress or Mrs.Santa’s apron?
In this sample I used Neon Rays+, Kreinik Very Fine(#4) Braid, and Petite Silk Lamé. The same stitch just lighter in coverage.
All of these stitches could be used in various ways, background, sky, clothing, shrubs, it is all in the threads you choose. Enjoy the stitches!
Since we have a snow filled landscape I thought you might like to try coloring a Snowman today
In case you still need a magnet or two here are the magnets I received from my Magnet Maven club membership. These are the November & December magnets from Bedecked & Beadazzled! Just saying, easy stocking stuffer’s
Many of you may be wondering about Beardie, my outdoor kitty. Well she is toasty warm in her heated condo and today I set up another heated area in her feeding station. She is now the proud owner of two heated houses! Plus she comes into the house for about half an hour for breakfast and dinner before heading back outside.
This is both insulated and heated! I of course cleared off all the snow and shoveled a path outside for her.
My final photo is of our little Christmas Bear on the front porch!
Stay warm everyone and the Christmas countdown is on, 10 more days!
Stitch to de-stress from the Holiday chaos, and put a few stitches in for me!
