There won’t be a post next week since I will be enjoying, sun, sand, ocean, and fruity cocktails! Not to worry, when I return I will give you a tour of the needlepoint shops that I am going to be visiting 🙂
Today I am bringing you two stitches. The first stitch was charted by Jane Wood of Chilly Hollow Needlepoint Adventure. The second is a variation of Jane’s stitch. Luckily I did not have to stitch the variation, my friend Cheryl Roler Timko is using it for sand & has stitched a fabulous sample!
A small change made this stitch look like a sandy beach path. I altered the stitch length to over 5 threads, over 4 threads, then repeat the pattern. Changing the type of thread or the color could make this stitch look like water, grass, sky. It is easy to make the stitch fit the area you need, elongate the stitch length like I did, shorten it, mix it up. When you do make changes trial it on graph paper first with colored pencils. To me this stitch really looks like sand.
Last week I showed you the lovely felted owl magnet that was given to me. This week I am showing you the carcass! Stimpy & or Noe went on the prowl one night and ripped the magnet off my magnet board. They must have thought it looked like the birdies they watch every morning!
The magnet still works, unfortunately it looks like a dead bird now! I loved it so much that I will replace it, Needle Little More does still have this magnet on their website!
Here are the little hooligans, don’t they look angelic 😉
Tango sleeps in the basement so I know he was not involved.
Well folks, have a wonderful rest of your week, and I will chat with you soon! Take a few moments to put in a stitch or two 🙂
