Hope you are having a fabulous week! It’s a beautiful Autumn day here in West Cleveland with the sun shining!🍁😺
The stitch for today can be used for many types of backgrounds so don’t let the name fool you. Bats & Stars is a composite stitch for Halloween. The bat stitch is a Ming variation and the star is a Double Straight Cross. I was feeling a little batty when I named the stitch and the actual names were very wordy!
The bats in the sample were stitched using one strand of black Petite Very Velvet.
I have a small skull magnet that is a little smaller than a nickel, to give you some perspective of the stitch size. This would work brilliantly on a small ornament sized canvas. Instead of bats you could use this for clouds, change the thread to meet your needs. 🎃
The stars were stitched using one strand of Petits Silk Lame in pink. Pink was a nice color to show the contrast against the white canvas and bats. I tried silver but you really could not see the stitch. Remember you will be stitching this on a painted canvas.
I have to show you this months magnet from the Magnet Maven club, it is fabulous! An elephant head with and upturned trunk, which is good luck in many cultures!!🐘
In honor of National Cat day here is a Pirate Halloween kitty to color. Instead of stitching try your hand at coloring, it really is a lot of fun!😸
Since it is National Cat Day you must see the kitty crew who have been fairly well behaved. Tango was the exception this week and decided he wanted to try Pumpkin pie. He stealthily came over to Mary Elaine’s side and swatted his paw straight into her Pumpkin pie with whipped cream! What a mess he made all over the floor and Mary Elaine!🙀Of course I was not very pleased since I had to get out the mop for a little clean up! What a little rascal he is!
Finally Stimpy really does love to lie in the sun that comes through the windows!
Well folks have a great rest of the week and put a few stitches in for me!
I have some good news, I will be having surgery on my back so that one of these days I will be able to sit and stitch again! Yipee!! 😁
Until next time,
