Aloha All,
I have to confess, I am enjoying a slice of my favorite cheesecake while writing this post, pumpkin pecan from The Cheesecake Factory 🙂 If you have never had this cheesecake you are missing out, it is a truly decadent treat!
I want to wish all my readers a Happy Thanksgiving, eat, drink, & don’t feel guilty! Today I am including a couple of coloring activities for everyone to have fun with. Coloring has become one of the hot hobbies for adults this year, it is a wonderful way to relax away from the computer.
Thanksgiving Coloring
I would love to see your finished works of art 😀
Today’s stitch is a Maple Leaf and Holly. The Holly stitch is the bottom portion of the Maple Leaf. I wanted you to see how you can take a single stitch and create a composite stitch. Both the Maple Leaf and the Holly stitch are made up from Leaf Stitches. Here they are.

Holly Stitch
Stitched sample of Maple Leaf & Holly
Both these stitches are not that big as you can see from the small magnet and needle. For the Maple Leaf I stitched the sample using one strand of Burmilana and one ply of Threadworx. The Holly was stitched using one strand of Neon Rays and attaching a 3mm Swarovski button with invisible thread. When using Neon Rays and invisible thread I take the kinks out of the thread with a flat-iron. The invisible thread is much more manageable when it does not curl up on you. The Maple leaf would make an interesting background, stitch it randomly. It could also be used for feathers. The Holly stitch could be used in a border of a Christmas canvas. Leaf stitches can be quite versatile. Use the tip of the leaf to make a snowflake. Hmm, maybe I will play with that for my next post ❓
From the zoo, you may remember I told you about the newest addition “Gandalf”, well I think he may have found a home. I have not seen him in about 3 weeks now. He was very sweet so I am sure someone has taken him in. Stimpy, Noe, Beardie, & Tango want to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!
Stimpy waiting for me on her new spot, the coffee table! Who rules the roost 🙂
Noe, dreaming of birds!
Tango, king of the couch!
Sweet Beardie loves to pose.
Shh, don’t tell anyone, Beardie has been coming into the house to play with a catnip pig! If she knew I told you she may not come back in for a visit! She only stays for a few minutes then jumps back out the door, which I guard so the girls and Tango don’t go out!
Finally a couple of my photos from the Cleveland Metro Parks, and the final coloring to work on after Thanksgiving 😉
Rocky River section of the Metro Park.
Leaf after the rain.
As you can see, I really do like leaves!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Well folks that is all for today, enjoy the holiday and I will chat more next week! Take some time to put a few stitches in.
