It has been a while but I hope everyone has had a lovely holiday weekend, be it Canada Day or Independence Day, both holiday’s fall very close to each other.
Today I have a stitch and my magnet of the month to show off.
Thanks to Jane Wood of Chilly Hollow Needlepoint Adventure for providing the stitched sample of the Kennan Variation, she did a wonderful job showing off the stitch 🙂
A bead can be used instead of a tent stitch in virtually any diagram that has tent stitches. In the sample you will see three different beads on the far right. The Kennan Variation was stitched by Jane using #8 Perle Cotton in pink and olive-green. The beads used were a light lilac 14/0, a blue 11/0, and a purple drop bead. Jane thought the drop beads would work well as buttons if you stitched the Kennan Variation for clothing and placed the drop beads were buttons were needed. I thought this stitch would look great on a leaf in different greens, try using a metallic for the tent stitch or even some 14/0 green beads with a lighter green thread. This stitch would also be good for backgrounds and water. Give it a whirl on your piece and have fun with it using different weight threads.
The magnet of the month from Bedecked & Beadazzled is Dory the fish, at least to me it looks like Dory from the movie “Finding Dory” 🙂 Hopefully there are still a couple left, you never know since magnets from the club do sell out very quickly!
In other news my Aunt came and visited for the month of June helping to keep me quiet and let my back heal. The cats have been in rare form, good one day, then trying to attack each other the next.
Here is a pre cat attack photo of Stimpy and Noe.
Next are a few of the angelic “tiger” photos. 🙂
Stimpy licking her lips after dinner.
Tango not batting an eyelash for once!
Have a great rest of your week and put a few stitches in!
Until next time,
