Wishing everyone a fabulous weekend! I just ordered and received some Steampunk Accessories that would work on all the fun Steampunk Canvases that I keep seeing from Brenda Stofft😀. This week a couple of finished Brenda Stofft Steampunk Fox’s have appeared on Facebook from Sandra Arthur’s Cyber Class. You can see the finished Fox over at Sandy’s blog, Sandy’s Stitching Mind Map. There is also an upcoming Brenda Stofft Steampunk Witch class that Ruth Schmuff is teaching at Bedecked & Beadazzled next month, August 18-20th. If all remains stable in my life, I am going to be heading to Baltimore to take this fabulous class!
Of course you will hear all about this adventure next month!
Here is a photo of my Steampunk gears. To give you an idea of the size of the gears there is a bottle top magnet on the right, a man with a mustache. Wouldn’t it be fun to embellish your canvas with these! I found these on Etsy thanks to Jane of Chilly Hollow Needlepoint, my personal enabler😉
I am giving you another stitch that I really like, 4 Way Continental, & 4 Way Continental with Beads. This stitch is very pretty and versatile with all the different variations. Look it up in your stitch books to see alternate fillings.
This stitch may look familiar to you as Alicia’s Lace, but Alicia’s Lace is stitched in a different pathway that doesn’t allow canvas to show from the back. It is stitched on a diagonal row.
In this sample I used 2 ply of Splendor. Left open you will see the shading of your canvas. Works well for backgrounds or anyplace you want light coverage.
Instead of leaving the stitch open I chose to add 2mm Swarovski crystals, which now makes this a full coverage stitch. If you don’t want to use beads, crystals or sequins, you could add a single stitch in the middle in a light weight thread like Petite Silk Lamé or a #8 Kreinik. You would have a little sparkle in your stitch and still a fuller coverage stitch. It would be great for garments, or even fruits, pumpkins, etc. As always I would love to see what you do with the stitch.
Of course I have a few photos of my muses, the “Tiger Crew”. Lately I have had a stray orange cat trying to take over Beardie’s territory, it actually hurt my poor girl and scratched her back leg. Fortunately the leg has healed nicely. Beardie is such a sweet girl and doesn’t fight, she hides from other critters. I am her protecter, so since I have to try and stop the orange cat from coming in the back yard I purchased a Super Soaker water gun. Here is a picture of me waiting to surprise the cat 😺
Now yesterday morning I did get a surprise attack in, but I am not sure if my aim was that good!
Here are the Kitties! Beardie has found a new resting spot, an empty pot that I used last year for a Tomato plant.
Stimpy just loves her Cat tree and was sleeping in it this week, she did look up when I came by.
Noe is my guard cat and alerts me to critters outside!
And just to show you Tango exists, here he is with his eyes closed as usual 😺
Well that’s it for today folks! Have a great week and try and find time to put in a stitch or two😁
