Hello my pretties, it is almost Halloween, my favorite time of the year! I could stitch Halloween all year round and just might this next year!☠🎃 In honor of this holiday todays stitch is Spooky Eyes with Pumpkins. Also, here is last years stitch Scaredy Cat! What can I say, fun stitches!
Spooky Eyes with Pumpkins was inspired from a June McKnight stitch in her Spooky Stitches Halloween book. Scaredy Cat is my design.
Jane Wood of Chilly Hollow Needlepoint Adventure had fun stitching this sample. She actually stitched it twice so I had to show both versions. Jane felt this stitch would be easier to stitch on 13 count canvas. I think it looks fabulous on 18 count, but of course I didn’t stitch it!
The outer Strap Stitch was stitched using one ply of Au Ver A Soie soft metallic braid in gold which is equivalent to a size #12 braid. Leave step 1 as an open frame for a beautiful openwork background.
The inner Strap Stitch was stitched using one ply of size #8 Perle Cotton in red. The pumpkin is orange Shimmer Ribbon floss with a plain green ribbon floss for the stem. In the far top right and center pink 14/0 beads were added for the eyes. Without the pumpkins the gold and red would make a nice background on any Asian themed canvas. Add the pumpkins and you have a fun October/November stitch.
Don’t you love how the green is accented by the white eyes! Plus it is a great close up of the pumpkin stitch.
I am already working on a new stitch for next weeks post! Wow, I am getting ahead of myself 😺
Have a safe Halloween and the Kitty crew are up next to say hello! Beardie has her own thoughts on my zero gravity recliner!
Here is the latest Halloween addition to the grass!👻☠
Until next time put in a few stitches for me!
