Spring is almost here, or at least it is supposed to be! I hear the birds chirping, the Blue Jays have started nesting, but it is still chilly here in North East Ohio!🙀❄ I am still waiting to see the first daffodil!
This week I was looking for a Lacey stitch that could work for a tablecloth, curtains, or scattered around as background motifs. I really like the Strap Stitch and came up with this diagram, a small Double Strap.
The pink Double Strap was stitched using one strand of #8 Perle Cotton, and the orange stitches use one strand of #12 Perle Cotton. Personally I like the lighter coverage of the #12 Perle Cotton. For a lighter look try one ply of silk, floche, or any light thread. If you want fuller coverage move the stitch up one thread and over one thread. As diagrammed you will see the painted canvas, which is not a bad thing, since hand painted designs can have detailed shading.
Next week I will be featuring a Milanese Variation, so stay tuned for this!
Last week I was really looking forward to a Maple Donut from our local baker Spudnuts. My partner stopped by on Friday and picked a couple up. Saturday morning I went into the kitchen, well wouldn’t you know it, I found a half eaten donut upside down on the floor! Tango the food thief, had opened the box and dragged out a donut! Now I have to hide food in the toaster oven or microwave, he can’t be trusted!
Tango looks so angelic, yet he loves all food, especially sweets!🙀
The girls of course are angels and never steal food! Noe can be a little bully but you would never know it from her pictures!
Blackie is making regular meal appearances, she and Beardie were actually playing outside in the back yard over the weekend.
Well folks, that is it for today! Have a great week and I will be back next week with a few Milanese Variation stitches!
Take a little time to stitch when you can!
