Aloha All,

What a week the East has had! Hopefully everyone is getting back to some normalcy now.

While you were snowed in I managed to finish my Colors of Praise Owl Eye Mask!

Colors of Praise Owl Eye Mask

This truly was my therapy canvas. I started it January 4th at the Doctors office and finished it January 23rd at the hospital. Like many of you, I carry a bag of stitching with me everywhere, I have to say it is my security blanket, it keeps me focused and calm.

Stitching truly is portable, right down to the stitch books! I was able to find the stitch for my stars on my phone as I have Sandra Arthur’s Shapes of Needlepoint Series II app. 😀 If you have this book I stitched this star in a free form Layered Star 7×8 diagram on page 99, the app diagram is the same. Since this is a wonderful app, I am not charting the stitch out, but will show you step by step with pictures taken by my phone. You can look at your book or app and compare the pictures. The stars are not uniform but you can use the same numbering, just adjust the lengths for the tips of the stars. I used one strand of Petite Sparkle Rays PS303 for the stars, it is a lovely Glow in the Dark thread!

For anyone that travels I really do recommend all of the needlepoint book apps!

Next up was the Crescent Moon! The idea for this came from Amy Bunger’s latest Mysteries of Needlepoint Book Club installment. She discussed how to use a Crescent stitch for fangs and claws, but to me the shape was my moon! Again you have to stitch a free form Crescent stitch since no moon is the same. I started by tent stitching the inside curve of the moon that would not be covered by the Crescent stitch.

From here I worked up around the moon, it really is a wonderful moon stitch.

The beak was stitched using one strand of Straw Silk, Lady Bug.

Beak Part 1

Beak Part 2

When stitching the beak you will need to share some center holes as shown in the diagram. I tent stitched the orange area of the eyes using one strand of Silk Lamé SL114 &SL115, the yellow area was stitched with one strand of Petite Sparkle Rays PS302, again this is Glow in the Dark 😮 The eye pupils are 20/21mm child safe animal eyes from Debra’s Garden , these come in a variety of colors and sizes. And voila you have a stitched Owl sleep mask!

If you did not read the first post on how to stitch this owl mask, click here to see the stitches used for the feathers, http://www.sheenasstitches.com/2719-2/ .

I hope you enjoyed the photo tutorial for the Stars and Moon! Now I have to find another project for my security blanket bag!

Stimpy saying adieu!

I hope you all have a wonderful week and can take a little time to stitch!

Aloha All, I love stitching in all forms, currently I work mostly on painted canvas and embellish it will different stitches and beads.

I also love animals and currently have 4 cats, 3 that live in the house, and my 1 girl who refuses to live inside but pops inside to eat :)

When I am not stitching I may be knitting or exploring with my camera in hand.

If you ever want a stitch diagramed send me a comment and I will help if I can.

Have a great day and stitch when you can! Read More…

Aloha All, This is a special weekend for me since it’s my Birthday! I get to be Queen for a day, well maybe two, because we are taking a quick trip to Columbus. You all know my love of owls, so I had to be the Queen Owl, instead of Bee👑🦉😻 Stitch: Of course I […]
